The question of Europe’s autonomy is no longer a theoretical debate—it has become an urgent and pressing reality. The new U.S. administration has issued alarming threats, including the use of economic and even military force, should Europe refuse to cede territory. Furthermore, the U.S. has actively pressured other NATO members, such as Canada, to integrate into the U.S., leveraging sanctions and tariffs as coercive tools. It has also demanded that NATO countries allocate an exorbitant portion of their GDP to defense spending, effectively imposing unsustainable financial burdens.
Whether or not the U.S. follows through on these threats is beside the point. Recent events have made it clear that the U.S. is willing to sidestep international law, pursuing unilateral actions that undermine global stability. Europe’s hasty alignment with such policies, despite repeated warnings, has exposed it to vulnerabilities and diminished its capacity for independent decision-making.
To safeguard European autonomy and amplify its geopolitical influence, the creation of a Federal European State is no longer merely desirable—it is essential. Now, more than ever, Europe must take decisive steps toward this vision. A unified and federal Europe is the path to ensuring security, sovereignty, and a more balanced global order.
Join us at Together for Europe to build a pan-European federalist movement and shape a stronger, united future.
